CDW-G, a Premiere supplier in Ithaca College’s IC Marketplace, was recently awarded a contract for computer equipment and related hardware, software, service and support from E & I, a member-owned, not-for-profit purchasing cooperative serving the needs of education. This catalog contract covers just about everything you can find through the CDW-G punch out.
When you add any item to your CDW-G cart, it will default to the lowest price. You can view a drop-down list of all pricing for that item. Occasionally another CDW-G contract will have a lower price, and you will always able to see the pricing comparison between the contracts.
Perhaps the most significant feature of the new contract is it permits CDW-G to sell Apple products to its Higher Education customers, something other Apple resellers are not permitted (by Apple) to do.
Things to keep in mind when buying computer products through CDW-G:
1. Technology Renewal eligible computer equipment must still be ordered through iProcurement in Parnassus.
2. If your CDW-G hardware order requires IT installation, follow the “Instructions for Tech Receiving Orders” in IC Marketplace (contact Karen Cleveland with any questions).
3. While Apple pricing may be less through CDW-G than Apple.EDU on some items, it may be higher on others. Always compare pricing.
4. All college-owned computer equipment, including tablets and iPads, must be inventoried and tagged with an Ithaca College asset tag. This automatically happens if your order is placed using the Tech Receiving instructions. Otherwise, contact the IT Service Desk at 274-1000 to arrange tagging.
If you need specialized Apple hardware, please continue to work with Irene Scott in Procurement to obtain the best pricing and sourcing.
