IC student Kyle Arnold a finalist in the 2017 IES Abroad Study Abroad Film Festival!

Kyle Arnold, is a Journalism major who studied with IES Abroad in Santiago, Chile during the Spring of 2017.  His film Solitude: A Companion Abroad was recently selected as one of three finalists in the 2017 IES Abroad Study Abroad Film Festival. The Festival asked IES Abroad students to capture the spirit of study abroad—both what it means to them, and how it redefined their world.

This year, IES Abroad received a record number of films totaling 93 submissions.  Out of 93 films, 12 moved on to become semi-finalists, which were ranked by IES Abroad's international jury based on key criteria including the ability to tell a compelling story that captures the spirit of study abroad, production quality, entertainment value, and originality.

Solitude: A Companion Abroad ranked in the top three submissions, making Kyle a finalists for this year’s Film Festival.  IES Abroad will hosting their first-ever Film Festival on November 1st in Chicago at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The grand prize winner will be announced in front of a live audience, students’ films will be screened, and a Q&A session will take place along with the other two finalists. The three student finalists, including Kyle, have been invited to attend the Film Festival in Chicago.
