Part of Silent Movie Month in Ithaca
Commemorate the Centennial of the Russian Revolution with this silent masterpiece by Sergei Eisenstein, which presents a dramatized version of the mutiny that occurred in 1905 when the crew of the Russian battleship Potemkin rebelled against their officers.
Listed among the best examples of early world cinema, Battleship Potemkin features iconic scenes that continue to influence filmmakers almost 100 years later.
Sponsored by the Departments of Sociology, History, and Politics at Ithaca College; Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies at Ithaca College; the Park Center For Independent Media at Ithaca College, and the ILR School at Cornell University.
Wharton Studio Museum is pleased to be co-hosting this event during Silent Movie Month, which takes place every October.
