Lab17 is proud and eager to introduce its Digital Discourse survey. Lab17 is a communications lab course housed in the Roy H. Park School of Communications that simulates a public relations agency. In addition to the agency’s client work, Lab17’s research team is conducting a survey to assess the usage of new media channels.
The survey measures the extent to which individuals of every age group, from across the United States, are using new media and mobile communication to send and receive messages. Lab17’s goal is to understand the impact this usage has in establishing efficient communication channels internally in the workplace and externally in public relations.
This survey originated with the 2016 cohort of the Public Relations Lab (Lab16) to grasp the impact new media use and mobile communications has had on our society. Lab16 designed the survey and gained Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for their survey design and distribution plan.
Lab17’s objective is to implement the survey and report its findings, continuing Lab16’s efforts. The survey launches on October 25, 2017. The findings will be analyzed and presented at the Lab17 showcase on December 14, 2017.
