Nick Palatella, a senior in the Theatre Production and Design major in the Department of Theatre Arts, will attend the Live Design International (LDI) conference in Las Vegas November 15-20th.
Nick received full funding for this opportunity through the Electronic Theatre Controls company. "ETC was founded by a group of college students and then grew to be a global lighting and rigging leader. Since then, one of the ETC founders and the current CEO, Fred Foster, has been dedicated to encouraging the young talent who are the future of the industry. One of the ways this is accomplished is through the LDI Student Sponsorship. Since 1999, ETC has given students an experience they can’t get anywhere else: an all-expense-paid trip to the LDI tradeshow, North America’s largest stage-technology tradeshow.
Some of the biggest names in the industry volunteer to be a mentor to ETC LDI Student Sponsorship recipients. Each mentor is paired with a student to provide support, advice, and encouragement for at least year after LDI ends. They help prepare the Sponsorship recipients for their future careers and guide them into the working world."
Nick is the lighting designer for this year's opera Cendrillon.
