SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION: THE EROS EFFECT AND GLOBAL REVOLUTION
featuring Contributing Editor Andrew Thompson
and Honors Program Director Alicia Swords
Tuesday, November 7
5:00PM Klingenstein Lounge
We are living through a period of massive social upheaval. Why, at given historical moments, does resistance to oppression seem to emerge spontaneously from multiple points around the globe despite differences in conditions on the ground? How can that resistance be understood, and how can it be furthered?
Spontaneous Combustion: The Eros Effect and Global Revolution (SUNY Press 2017) addresses precisely these questions.
Andrew Thompson is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Social Movements and Social Change in the Department of Sociology.
Alicia Swords is the Ithaca College Honors Program Director
