"THE PATH TO GRADUATE SCHOOL IN FILM AND COMMUNICATIONS"

Moderated by Dr. Sueyoung Park-Primiano and Dr. Matt Holtmeier with Elizabeth Wijaya, Park Predoctoral Diversity Fellow-in-Residence
Description: Three early career academics--a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Screen Studies, an Assistant Professor of Screen Studies, and a Cornell University graduate student writing her dissertation--share their academic journeys from undergraduate to work experience to graduate school and a PhD on a panel on graduate school in screen studies and communications. The session will feature 15-20 minutes of moderated discussion where the panelists tell their stories, with the remaining time open to interactive discussion and questions from students.

"E & W FILMS: A CASE STUDY"

Description: E&W Films started in 2010 with I HAVE LOVED (Elizabeth Wijaya and Lai Weijie, Singapore, 2011), which competed in the Asian New Talent Competition, 24th Singapore International Festival; Asian New Talent Awards, 15th Shanghai International Film Festival; and Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2012. E&W Films collaborates with visionary writers and directors to create forceful sensorial works that resonate strongly with Asian and international audiences. It is the production company for DAHDI (Kirsten Tan, 2014) and POP AYE (Kirsten Tan, Singapore, 2017). POP AYE was developed at the Cinefondation's Atelier of the Cannes Film Festival and TorinoFilmb Lab and has won awards at the Sundance Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival, Netia Off Camera International Festival of Independent Cinema, and Zurich Film Festival. E&W Films is currently developing TASTE (Le Bao, Vietnam, in development) and in post-production for NYI MA LAY (Chiang Wei Liang, Singapore, 2017).
