Ellie Fitts Fulmer, Ed.D. assistant professor of education, and Jill Bodner, M.S. Childhood Education, '14, recently coauthored an article in i.e.: Inquiry in Education, the peer-reviewed journal published by the Center for Practitioner Research at National Louis University. The piece, titled, "Detached and Unsustainable: Central Tensions in Teacher Research Capstones and the Possibilities for Reimagined Inquiry," explores challenges in the research capstone assignments that are common in teacher education programs. With three key recommendations rooted in the field of Practitioner Inquiry, the authors present a vision for change that could increase the likelihood of cultivating thoughtful, reflective, life-long teacher researchers.
