On November 30, President Shirley M. Collado announced the creation of the President’s Seed Grant Initiative to provide a launching pad for original, cross-disciplinary collaborations that develop innovative ideas and lay the groundwork for the college’s upcoming strategic visioning process. The emphasis is on new ideas and fresh perspectives, and grants will be made to support efforts that are initiative-focused, not program-focused, and can range from $2,000 to $25,000.

Only faculty and staff may serve as the lead on the grant project, but students are welcome to participate as team members.

Applications will be taken online only; the application deadline is Friday, January 5.

All grants will be awarded by the end of January 2018 and grants must be used before May 31, 2018, the end of the college’s fiscal year. Selections will be made by the president in collaboration with and based on the recommendations of a grant committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students.

In addition to the seed grant initiative, President Collado also announced in November the creation of the President’s Fellows Program, to begin in the 2018-2019 academic year. Both initiatives are supported by the president’s discretionary fund, and are designed to facilitate cross-disciplinary work and develop the talent of faculty, staff and students. These initiatives came about as a result of the recommendations from the recent campus climate survey and themes emerging from President Collado’s deep engagement with the Ithaca College community.
