Dear Students,
As we begin the Spring semester, you may find yourself in the midst of various conversations on campus related to the topics of mental health and sexual abuse. These conversations may be difficult and uncomfortable for many of you. As someone who is committed to your growth and development, I encourage you to take the time to process and engage in meaningful discussions with your peers as well as with faculty and staff. My hope is that you find spaces where you feel safe to express your questions, concerns, and opinions in a respectful and thoughtful manner.
I want to make sure that you are aware of the various campus resources available to assist you. I strongly encourage you to reach out to one or more of the following if you need someone to talk to or need assistance:
· Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), www.ithaca.edu/counseling. Call 607-274-3136 and ask about same-day crisis services if you need to speak to a counselor for urgent concerns.
· Sexual Harassment and Assault Response & Education (SHARE), www.ithaca.edu/share.
· Contact the Title IX Coordinator Linda Koenig at 607-274-7761.
· Center for LGBT Education, Outreach & Services, www.ithaca.edu/lgbt. Contact Luca Maurer, Program Director, at 607-274-7394.
· Students living on campus can speak with your Resident Assistant or the RA on Duty. The name of the RA on Duty each night is posted on your RA’s room door and at the access phone to your residence hall.
· The Residence Director for your area or the RD on Duty. You can reach the RD on Duty after business hours by calling the Office of Public Safety at 607-274-3333.
· Office of the Chaplains, at 607-274-3103.
I look forward to a productive semester, and will be in touch regarding future opportunities for campus dialogue.
Sincerely,
Rosanna Ferro
