This is the second year that IC Athletics has partnered with the Ithaca College LGBT Center to celebrate an LGBTQ Pride Night event. As was the case last year, this year's event will take place around the Ithaca's basketball doubleheader, as both the men's and women's programs take on Liberty League rival Clarkson University. The women's game will tip-off at 6:00 p.m., while the men's contest will begin approximately at 8:00 p.m. The men's and women's teams of both Ithaca and Clarkson will be showing their support by donning rainbow sweatbands during pre-game warm-ups; however, that is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting night.
There will be several giveaways as part of the evening. Rainbow sweatbands will be tossed to the crowd in attendance during various timeouts throughout the evening. The first 50 students at each game that check-in at the 'Blue Crew' promotions table located in the lobby outside of Ben Light Gymnasium will receive a free white T-shirt, while rainbow ribbons will also be available through the LGBT Center information table also located near the entrance to the gymnasium.
In-game promotions will include a live DJ, as Ithaca's own DJ Washburn will set the soundtrack for the evening. There will also be a contest at halftime of both the women's and men's games where lucky fans will be selected to take part in a basketball shot contest with the chance to win prizes through 'Blue Crew', IC's student-marketing group. Prizes include Freshens smoothie vouchers, Blue Crew water bottles, $50 gift card to Firehouse Subs, and the grand-prize of a one-semester of free books through Ithaca College's Campus Bookstore.
Stay tuned for more promotion of the event on both the IC Athletics and LGBT Center's social media pages.
