Great summer and on-campus jobs can be tough to find. How do you find something fun and interesting to you, that works with your student schedule? And most importantly - how will it help you develop your skills in your field of choice? The good news is, The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs is seeking applicants for Student Leadership Consultants (SLCs) and Orientation Leaders (OLs) for the upcoming year, and you would be fantastic!
YES - both positions are paid hourly. As an OL, you will work during the summer full time for 6 weeks. All specifics are on our website (see bottom). SLCs work during the year, anywhere 12-20 hours per week. SLCs spend about 6-8 of those hours scheduled in OSEMA, with the rest of that time spent working on various projects to make our campus run - all on your own time! INCREDIBLE.
Another reason that being an SLC or an OL is amazing is because it gives you fantastic professional experience! According to the National Association for Colleges and Employers in a survey done in 2016, the two most important qualities to have on your resume are demonstrated leadership ability, and the ability to work in a team. SLCs and OLs develop these and other universal job skills naturally as a part of interacting with these positions - they market themselves on your resume, so long as you frame them the right way.
Still not sold? See what these SLCs and OLs have to say about the position by attending an info session on the SLI page: https://orgsync.com/36595/events?view=upcoming
