John Gurche, world-renowned paleo-artist and anthropologist, will present a talk on reconstructing humans from material remains for World Anthropology Day, Thursday, Feb. 15, at 7:00 pm in Textor 102.
Gurche combines knowledge of anatomy, paleontology, anthropology, and artistic techniques to re-construct the faces of early hominins. His work has been praised in National Geographic, Discover, and Natural History Magazines, and is displayed in museums including the Smithsonian and the American Museum of Natural History. The talk is sponsored by the Ithaca College Student Anthropological Society and the Department of Anthropology, and is open to the public.
