Shehnaz Haqqani
Women’s and Gender Studies

Shehnaz Haqqani is a PhD candidate at the University of Texas, Austin. Her research explores the gendered patterns of change in Islam and the ways in which these patterns shape Muslims’ perceptions of Islam and attitudes towards gender. Her dissertation is titled "Islamic Tradition, Change, and Feminism: The Gendered Non-negotiable."
Raul Palma
Department of Writing

Raul Palma is a PhD candidate at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Raul will be presenting his creative dissertation titled Manteca, a novel set in 1980s Miami at the end of its drug wars and race riots, and just as the HIV/AIDS crises is being named.
Nate Rodriguez

Nate Rodriguez is a PhD candidate at San Diego State University. His research will explore The Role of Communication in the Identification of Gay Refugees & Asylees Throughout Migration.
