Due to the positive feedback received after our Supportive Campus Conversations for Students in February, and the need in our community for continued support, we have decided to provide an additional, long-term support group as well. Like the previous conversations, the group will be facilitated by Abbey Spoth of the Advocacy Center to continue to offer a supportive space for survivors of abuse.
The focus of the group will be on numerous topics related to the experiences of survivors. We understand that every dynamic of abuse looks different, and want to stress that these groups are intended as a safe, welcoming space to all survivors, regardless of gender, race, religion, ability, and sexuality. In addition to working with the Advocacy Center, these groups are in partnership with Linda Koenig (Title IX Coordinator), Luca Maurer (Program Director for the LGBTQ Center), and Sean Eversely Bradwell (Director of Programs and Outreach). The project is also supported by Deb Harper (Director of CAPS), Lauren Goldberg (Executive Director of Hillel), Melinda Butler (Chapel) and OSEMA. Students who would like to participate should join the Advocacy Center on Thursdays at 5pm in Muller Chapel. The room is downstairs and will be marked by a sign on the door. The Advocacy Center is also holding open Office Hours on Tuesdays (10:30a-1:00p) and Thursdays (2:30-4:30p) in the Chapel. Please contact Roswell Ecker (recker@ithaca.edu) or Abbey Spoth (aspoth@theadvocacycenter.org) for questions or accommodations.
