Eight students gave papers representing original research at “From Beauty to Black Widow” a feminist pop culture conference held at Mansfield University from April 20-21.

Alayna Vander Veer– “Looking Beyond the Image: An Analysis of Three sento bishojo Characters in Japanese Anime”
Andy Yzaguirre The Power in the Punch: Webcomics as Medium for Women’s Stories
Lila Kwederis – “Villainizing the Classics in Leigh Barduga’s the Language of Thorns”
“From Beauty to Black Widow” is a daughter conference of Ithaca College’s own “Pippi to Ripley: Sex and Gender in Fantasy, Science Fiction, Comics and Children’s Literature.” Pippi to Ripley is held in odd years at IC; it will be returning on April 26th and 27th, 2019.
