Zoe Merod (Art History, '20) presented a paper, “Sacred Gender and Secular Space: The Importance of Architectural Imagery in 15th Century Netherlandish Painting,” at Kent University in Canterbury, England.
Her paper examined the equation of the Virgin Mary with architectural settings in Northern Renaissance paintings, including Robert Campin’s Merode Altarpiece. She presented at the Medieval and Early Modern Festival, an international conference for undergraduates, graduate students, and early career researchers sponsored by the Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Studies, the School of History, and the School of English of the Kent University.
Her participation was supported by the Honors program and H&S.
