Based upon the results of the CNS Energy Audit last summer, we are pleased to announce that we are moving forward with a major lighting upgrade throughout CNS for those spaces not recently renovated. Phase I will occur during the Winter 2018-19 break, and will include new lights and occupancy sensors for the first floor. The remainder of the building will be upgraded during the Summer of 2019. This exciting project will result in an annual electricity reduction of over 400,000 kWh and annual savings of approximately $45,000 (energy and maintenance).
We are working to identify a mock-up space (i.e. pilot-test location) scheduled to be installed before classes resume this fall. Our hope is this mock up installation will provide everyone a preview of what to expect, and allow folks time to provide their feedback on the results before we get to phase 1 this winter.
We are also planning to host a public information session in early to mid-September with the engineers, to share with you the plans in greater detail and to get your feedback and questions. We will provide an update in the next two weeks, so please stay tuned as we continue to firm up the plans. In the meantime, please reach out directly to Greg Lischke (glischke@ithaca.edu) with any questions, comments, or concerns.
