At its year end get together, the Athletic Training Education Program in the Department of Exercise & Sport Sciences awarded Associate Clinical Professor, Courtney Gray, MS, ATC the Michael Matheny Excellence in Clinical Education Award for her outstanding contributions and accomplishments to CAATE accredited professional healthcare program.
The Michael Matheny Excellence in Clinical Education Award was created in 2018 to recognize the 30 years of dedicated and accomplished service and leadership provided to the institution's athletic training education program by IC's Head Athletic Trainer and Clinical Professor, Mike Matheny, MS, ATC.
An alumnus of the program she now works to deliver on a very high level, Mrs. Gray has provided long lasting and critical mentorship and educational services to dozens of IC athletic training majors, published numerous manuscripts of significance in the field, and contributed mightily to the progress and development of the athletic training education program through compassionate and dedicated service to all aspects of the program, institution and profession. Due to her consistent efforts and dedication, the IC Athletic Training Program has achieved and sustained a national reputation for excellence, while enjoying a current first time national examination board success treak of 133 students and 8 consecutive years.
