Submitted on behalf of Dr. Roger Richardson, Associate Vice President Student Affairs and Campus Life:

Dear Campus Community members,

Following a national search, I am pleased to announce Hierald Edgardo Osorto has been named Director of Religious and Spiritual Life.  Hierald will provide leadership and direction in advancing the vision of Ithaca College’s Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, by working in collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to advance and support inclusivity and religious diversity.

Hierald's passion for stories hidden out of sight drives him to work collaboratively and creatively to bring those stories to light. The last decade of his experiences include coordinating multicultural programming at a small liberal arts college, co-moderating the young adult council for Religions for Peace, connecting students and sustainable farmers in El Salvador and, from 2013-15, directing the national program for Lutheran Volunteer Corps, a faith-based service program for young adults of many religious and spiritual backgrounds pursuing justice. He is a recent graduate of Austin Seminary and a candidate for ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Looking forward to meeting Ithaca colleagues, Hierald shares: "I am excited to learn people's stories and to connect with each department to create excellent and expansive programs for this spiritually diverse community."  Hierald will join the IC community on Tuesday, September 4th.  Please join me in welcoming Hierald to Ithaca College.
