Feeling overwhelmed by the effects of global climate change and wondering what opportunities IC has to get involved?
WEDNESDAY, 5 SEPTEMBER, 7 PM – BUSINESS #206: Join Citizens’ Climate Lobby and the Office of Energy Management & Sustainability for an engaging discussion on one of the most promising solutions to climate change: national carbon pricing. Learn how putting a price on fossil fuels can affect positive change at the global scale and see how you can get involved. Nancy Jacobson, a faculty member at IC and co-lead of the local Citizen’s Climate Lobby chapter, will be giving a brief presentation and facilitating the discussion.
To date, 44 colleges and universities have signed a collective statement supporting a price on carbon. Valerie Smith, President of Swarthmore College in PA, said “without strong policies to address climate change at the state and national levels, campus sustainability alone cannot preserve a livable world for future generations.. Together, we can demonstrate to our elected officials, the political will necessary to enact effective policy to combat climate change.”
