Associate Professor and Latin American Studies Coordinator, Dr. Patricia Rodriguez will be conducting a workshop training members of the Ithaca College community on how to participate in the Rapid Response Network and Hotline for Immigrants. The Rapid Response Network is a current initiative sponsored by the Tompkins County Immigrant Rights Coalition (TCIRC).
This workshop is also jointly sponsored by the Ithaca College Catholic Community, Protestant Community, Hillel, Ithaca College Pagan Community, and Muslim Students & Allies. The training is open to anyone regardless of their faith background.
The purpose of the Rapid Response Network is to respond to calls from people who are pursued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in our community. The Network also seeks to share resources with those facing arrest, detention and deportation based on their lack of citizenship.
Training for the Rapid Response Network will take place this Wednesday, September 12th, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Muller Chapel.
Students who wish to explore the topic of immigrant rights, but who would prefer not to be trained in the Rapid Response Network, will have the opportunity to attend a workshop and discussion centered on telling others about one's immigrant story. This session will be directed in part by Ithaca College students.
