Applications are available now for any Ithaca College student who is interested in participating in the 2018 Social Action Leadership Retreat. The retreat takes place from 4:00pm on Friday, November 9 until Noon on Sunday, November 11. The deadline to apply is Sunday, September 30 at 11:59pm.

This event is a two-night retreat off campus where students can focus on the leadership skills required to be an effective community organizer and social justice activist. During the retreat, the entire group will participate in a series of educational sessions and discuss issues as a large group, as well as in smaller, informal conversations.

The Social Action Leadership Retreat will help any Ithaca College student develop skills and knowledge to drive positive social change for more socially just communities. No matter the issue or cause you are advocating for, it takes leadership to create change. All Ithaca College students belong to a multitude of different cultures including areas of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status and many more. Therefore, we are looking for a group of people that come from many different cultural backgrounds, including those in the "majority." Every Ithaca College student is eligible and highly encouraged to apply.

SALR is held off-campus at a retreat center. Lodging, meals, transportation and retreat materials are provided for all attendees; there is no cost to participate. SALR begins on Friday afternoon and concludes on Sunday morning. All participants must travel with the group and must attend the program in its entirety. This retreat counts as 3 Leading in a Diverse World sessions toward that track in the Student Leadership Institute.
