We can all help prevent suicide. Every year, the National Prevention Lifeline and other mental health organizations and individuals across the U.S. and around the world raise awareness of suicide prevention during September, National Suicide Prevention Month.
The Office of Case Management had students and staff decorate rocks to bring attention to suicide prevention and the ICare Referral form for students experiencing significant distress. The rocks will be placed in the Campus Quad from September 24th-26th. We encourage the Campus Community to stop by and pick up a rock to take back to your office, dorm room, or apartment in order to show support for suicide prevention and promote the ICare Referral process.
#BeThe1To is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s message for National Suicide Prevention Month and beyond, which helps spread the word about actions we can all take to prevent suicide. The Lifeline network and its partners are working to change the conversation from suicide to suicide prevention, to actions that can promote healing, help and give hope. You are not alone, and help is available. The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is 1-800-273-8255.
