Mary Ann Erickson (Gerontology) Recognized at State Society on Aging of New York with the Walter M. Beattie, Jr. Award

Associate professor, Mary Ann Erickson, received the Warren M. Beattie, Jr. award at the 46th Annual Conference of the State Society on Aging of New York ("Building a Culture of Health and Well-Being for All Ages") for her outstanding contributions to the work of the State Society on Aging (SSA).

 

Dr. Erickson has been a member of SSA since 1996. During those years she has served as Membership Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, President-Elect, and President (2016 and 2017). She also served on the Visions Task Force. Dr. Erickson is chair of the K-12 Gerontology Education Committee of AGHE, where she also serves on the Program Planning Committee.

Her current research focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning in gerontology, with a particular interest in applying contemplative pedagogy to gerontology education.
