Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program Newly Accredited by COAPRT

The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies recently gained accreditation of their Outdoor Adventure Leadership (OAL) Program until 2025 by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT). 

The Council approved the following commendations:

• Department is to be commended for pursuing and maintaining academic excellence as evident by 27 years of accreditation and for pursuing new accreditation in the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program.
• Involvement in professional organizations and service is exceptional. 
• The Program has gone above and beyond expectations by providing their students with unique learning opportunities that impact the learning experience. Program has developed exceptional learning labs both on and off campus to enhance curricular needs.
• Faculty have demonstrated a solid understanding of the assessment process and student learning outcomes

The program also received the Best of the Best award, recognizing their role in training highly effective professionals in the field of Outdoor Adventure Leadership.
