Strategic Planning: Upcoming Events and a Roundup of Your Feedback

Contributed by Jennifer Campbell

On behalf of the strategic planning steering committee, we invite you to two events in early December that will help us move the Imagining Ithaca planning process to the next important stage.

We hope you will join us for these events, both of which will help inform our collective efforts in the next few months.

Your work is being put to work!

As promised, our work to hone in on the college's guiding vision has been informed already by your efforts and ideas. We believe you will recognize many of the thoughts and intentions in the drafts we'll soon share with the campus community. Each school's strategic plan has been a significant source of alignment and inspiration, as have the findings of reports such as the campus climate survey, Middle States accreditation report, and many more. You can visit the Imagining Ithaca website for a list of the primary resources the steering committee is consulting.

Since September we've also been collecting your direct input for the vision and themes--in large events such as the all-staff and all-faculty gatherings, smaller discussions such as the Board of Trustees fall meeting, online feedback forms, and even note pads placed around campus. A great many recurring threads are emerging, which is exciting to see. We'll discuss this in more detail on December 6, but in the meantime, we've compiled quick summaries of some of the main ideas that we're seeing.

In case you missed it. . .

Anytime you'd like to check back on an older strategic plan update, you can find the archive online without having to sift through your message history.

And, if you still haven't viewed all the steering committee members' bios and videos, we think they provide wonderful windows into the motivations and philosophies of our committee members.

Thank you for the candor, imagination, and inspiration you have been putting into to this very important effort.

Sincerely,

La Jerne Terry Cornish, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Jason Freitag, Associate Professor, History

Imagining Ithaca Co-Chairs
