Student-run agency exhibits work with community to clients, students, and faculty.
ITHACA, N.Y., November 29, 2018 –Ithaca College students participated in a simulated public relations agency Fall 2018. The lab will showcase its work over the course of the semester December 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Third Floor Lounges of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College.
The agency will present its work with local non-profit, Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services. The organization has created and sustained 578 households and has assisted over 1,000 individuals. INHS has served and provided affordable housing in Upstate New York since 1976.
“Working with a local nonprofit has given us all more insight into the community in which we’ve spent our college career. Learning about the affordable housing market and being able to make a real difference has been a humbling experience,” says Alexa Dargis, Ithaca College Senior and INHS Account Manager.
This year, the lab also participated in The Collegiate Echo Marketing Challenge. The purpose of this client project is to increase the traffic and sales for Boxed, an online grocer. The team developed an omni-channel campaign that will run for the first quarter of next year using a budget of $250,000.
Additionally, the agency was challenged with writing, producing, and hosting a podcast titled “For the Love of Discourse,” which will launch during the event. In each episode, agency members discuss their research on trending communications topics in the context of modern culture. The show utilizes survey research from preceding agencies, Lab16 and Lab17, and segments range in theme from various texting habits to the cord cutting phenomenon.
LAB18 welcomes Ithaca College students and faculty, as well as members of the press attend the upcoming showcase. Refreshments will be provided.
