Student Organizations: TODAY is last day of Re-Recognition!
12/13/18
Contributed by Mary Holland-Bavis
The re-recognition process opened on August 1, 2018 and will close today, December 14, 2018 at 5 pm. Organizations who fail to complete the process will not have an opportunity to re-recognize their organization until the process opens again on August 1, 2019. Students who wish to start a new student organization can do so until March 8, 2019.
Below are the steps of re-recognition as a reminder:
Step 1: Complete Registration on IC Engage (formally Orgsync)
On Orgsync, student organizations would submit a form where they would provide the names of their ten members and upload a screenshot of their updated profile and constitution. A common frustration with this process was the recognition form was not connected to the actual student organization profile. Therefore, the profile did not accurately represent the most up-to-date roster of the student organizations.
On Engage, student organizations will now re-register their profile. This includes updating the organization page, roster (must have at least ten active members which must include 4 officers – 1 presiding officer, 1 finance manager), and uploading an updated constitution that includes a mission statement, membership and non-discrimination clause.
Step 2: Have a full time Ithaca College employee agree to be the advisor by completing an Advisor Agreement
On Orgsync, once the returning student organization recognition form was submitted, an advisor agreement was automatically sent to the advisor’s e-mail to review and approve. Unfortunately Engage does not currently offer this convenient feature, therefore advisors must complete the form separately:
All advisors must complete the Advisor Agreement form. This link is also available on the Office of Student Engagement website.
Step 3: Complete the Officer Training
On Orgsync, once the returning student organization recognition form was submitted, the quizzes were automatically sent to the officer’s e-mail to complete. Unfortunately Engage does not currently offer this feature, therefore all officers must complete the quiz separately.
Student organization officers must complete a quiz as a part of the recognition process. Officers are encouraged to read the student organization guidebook or Student Organization Resource Book. The President and two officers must complete the officer quiz. Treasurers must complete the treasurer quiz.
Step 4: Attend a Re-Recognition Workshop
This is a new step that was introduced in Spring 2018. Many student organizations completed 1/3 of the workshop requirement by attending a transition workshop offered in April. We will be offering these again in April 2019.
The President, Treasurer and one Officer must attend one Re-Recognition Workshop. All workshop dates are available on the Office of Student Engagement website.
