The H&S Dean's office, in collaboration with the Center for Faculty Excellence, launched an initiative last Spring to support associate professors who may be contemplating promotion in the next few years. H&S and CFE are continuing the program this semester and invite faculty from all schools to participate. Our intention is to provide them a collegial institutional space for identifying the challenges they are facing in making this move and to get a sense of the incentives they may need to do so successfully.
Asma Barlas (Politics) will continue to coordinate the meetings and, at the end of the semester, the interim dean of H&S, Michael Richardson, will meet with the group to explain policies and procedures and address faculty's questions and concerns.
The sessions will address a variety of topics, organized and improvised loosely under the rubrics:
The meetings are voluntary and informal; participants will meet both in groups and individually, as need arises. All meetings will take place in CFE during the noon hour every Tuesday and Thursday so as to allow faculty who are free on only one of these days to attend.
