Here's what's happening soon:
Faculty soprano Martha Guth will give a recital on Wednesday, January 30th at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. In words and music Guth and pianist Graham Johnson will trace the metamorphoses of four composers from their youthful to their later creations. Songs by Schubert, Fauré, Poulenc, and Britten demonstrate how young composers gradually evolve from their early beginnings to mature mastery.
Guest euphonium player Bente Illevold will perform works for solo euphonium on Sunday, February 3 at 4:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.
Guest horn player Steven Cohen will be joined by pianist Mary Holzhauer for a recital on Sunday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.
And the next After Dinner Mint Faculty Showcase Series concert will be Monday, February 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall. The voice and piano faculties will present a performance of the famous 24 Italian Songs and Arias, with interpretations ranging from historically-informed performances to Romantic expressions. These seminal works comprise the basis for classical singing today, and form a cornerstone of vocal study. Performers include Jennifer Kay, Ivy Walz, Mary Holzhauer, Dawn Pierce, Deborah Montgomery Cove, Alison Wahl, Patrice Pastore, Carol McAmis, Elisabeth Marshall, Brad Hougham, and Diane Birr
