Dear Ithaca College community members,

On behalf of the Dean’s search committee for the School of Humanities and Sciences, we would like to update the campus community on our progress.

We were pleased by the large and diverse group of talented and accomplished academic leaders who expressed strong interest in joining our community as our next H&S Dean. After a rigorous review, the search committee narrowed the candidate pool to ten highly qualified candidates who were interviewed in person by the full committee as well as by Provost Cornish.  The committee members and Provost Cornish were impressed by the strength, depth, and breadth of these individuals and as well as by their enthusiasm for joining Ithaca College.

Following deliberations informed by reference checks and additional due diligence on the candidates, the search committee narrowed the pool down to a group of four finalists who will be invited to campus the week of February 18 to 22.  There is strong consensus within the search committee that these candidates are eminently capable of providing effective leadership for Ithaca College as the H&S Dean.

We have now turned our attention to constructing finalist schedules that will include meetings with representatives of various college constituencies.  Each candidate will have open forums during these visits, which will include a brief presentation and will enable members of the campus community to learn more about the finalists.  The candidates’ identities will be announced as soon as their availability is confirmed.

We encourage faculty, students and staff to participate in and provide input on these candidates during their visits to our campus. The schedule for the week of February 18 to 22 will be released shortly.

As co-chairs, we would like to thank each of our committee members for their incredible dedication to this search.  We are excited to share these candidates with the campus community and eager to gain new insight from our colleagues in response to the many open sessions.  Please be on the lookout for ways to share your perspectives on the candidates during their visits with us.

Sincerely,

Pearl Ponce and Steven TenEyck
