WICB's Sports Department and its coverage of the 2018 Ithaca College Football Season has been recognized by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) in its annual Festival of Media Arts Awards Competition.
WICB's winning submission was written, voiced and produced by the station's Sports Director, Cam Pratt '19. The entry placed first in the Student Sports Competition under the category "Radio Sports Story / Feature / News."
His nearly five-minute submission aired during WICB's coverage of this past November's annual "Cortaca Jug" football game between Ithaca and Cortland. The game open featured narrative, stats, notes about each team and sound bites. It aired during the broadcast's pregame show before kickoff.
BEA's digital media and broadcast competition awarded 295 entries from over 300 participating schools and over 1,500 entries from around the world. More information about the competition can be found on their website. The full list of 2019 award winners is here.
The WICB Sports Department provides play-by-play coverage of Ithaca College's varsity sports including the football team's entire home and away schedule.
