The Annual Convention of the Society of Personality and Social Psychology took place February 7-9, 2019, in Portland, OR. At this convention, Professor Leigh Ann Vaughn presented a poster session about goals and well-being.
The poster session presented results of four experiments on 1,602 American and Canadian participants’ self-reported well-being in experiences of pursuing different kinds of goals. It showed that well-being was higher in pursuit of growth goals than in pursuit of security goals. Additionally, it showed that individual differences in the strength of growth goals related to well-being, but individual differences in the strength of security goals did not.
