The Division of College Communications has been working for the past year to select and implement a new digital asset management (DAM) system for the college. The new system will dramatically improve the division’s ability to upload, organize, manage, and share assets such as photography and videography. This system is crucial in ensuring that all college-owned digital assets are readily available and easily accessible when they are needed.

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with Widen, a company and product that offers a robust cloud-based DAM system that will make locating, sharing, and using assets a much simpler process for the campus community. This new product comes with a variety of improvements over the current Cumulus system, ranging from improved search functionality to practical sharing capabilities. Widen will make it much easier for the campus community to find and share content.

At the end of the spring 2019 semester, we will have transitioned from Cumulus to Widen. Please be aware that, when the transition is complete, all preexisting and future assets will be available exclusively on Widen, and we will no longer be using Cumulus.

We can’t wait to share Widen with you, and we are confident that this system will be a significant and noticeable improvement. Additional information will be provided in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact assets@ithaca.edu.
