Last weekend's ITHACON comic book convention, a collaboration between Ithaca College and the Comic Book Club of Ithaca, attracted approximately 1,800 attendees--the largest crowd in the convention's history.
This year ITHACON was run by the students in the conference prep and management course co-taught by Ed Catto (Management) and Katharine Kittredge (English). They were joined in their coordinating duties by Bill Turner, long-time conference planner for the Comic Book Club of Ithaca and Rebecca Gray, independent gaming coordinator.
In addition to the 130 student volunteers who helped out with the event, Ithaca College students gave and moderated panels; they taught workshops in creative writing, computing, and crafting; they documented the event, and facilitated accessibility for those who were differently abled.
Special thanks go to IC's Passion Project, Humans vs. Zombies club, Quidditch team, Women in Computing club, and the many IC librarians who expedited the acquisition of the books for the Graphic Novel Reading Room. We would also like to recognize the expertise of archivist Bridget Bower who worked with Ed Catto to curate the excellent Rod Serling exhibit.
