Ari Kissiloff, Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication has been elected President of the New York State Communications Association. He previously served as the Director of Web and Social media for a decade.

Kissiloff has accepted this 5-year commitment in a role that changes each year:

The New York State Communication Association (NYSCA) includes both regular and life membership of communication practitioners, scholars, and educators representing a wide variety of academic institutions. In addition, NYSCA envisions the involvement of both graduate and undergraduate membership as the core of the association’s mission to promote distinguished leadership inside and outside academia.   Kissiloff’s first big task is to run the 77th Annual NYSCA Conference hosted in Callicoon, NY from October 18-20, 2019 where they will examine “Theory vs. Practice.” How can they work together and where should they be apart? How will academics navigate the age-old tension between the camps, and ensure that graduates can both think deeply, and also deal with the practical issues that citizens of a 21st century planet must tackle to move forward together.

Call for papers (due July 7, 2019) on the theme “Theory vs. Practice: Bridging the Gap”: http://www.nyscanet.org/archives/1207
