Patricia Zimmermann, Professor of Screen Studies and Codirector of the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF), published an essay in Film Quarterly Spring 2019 entitled "Insurgent Habitats: On Media and Environment."
The essay, which takes the form of a manifesto, was coauthored with Dr. Dale Hudson from New York University Abu Dhabi. Dr. Hudson has served as the new media curator for FLEFF for twelve years.
The essay is part of a special Film Quarterly dossier of contemporary manifestos probing cinema in a time of urgency. It features eleven writers from around the globe who analyze how screen cultures from analog to digital to performance have changed and must adapt to the changing political landscapes and recalibrations propelled by the current moment.
