 2018-19 Karel Husa Visiting Professor of Composition Stefano Gervasoni is one of Europe's most distinguished composers of his generation. A professor at the Paris Conservatoire, Gervasoni has won numerous international awards and has had commissions by many orchestras and ensembles around the world. Gervasoni will be in residence at the Ithaca College School of Music for nine days teaching composition lessons and workshops. 

The concert on Tuesday night (4/23) includes An, a Schubert-inspired piece for chamber ensemble written in 1989, which will be performed by the Ithaca College Contemporary Ensemble. IC piano professor Vadim Serebryany will play a selection from Gervasoni's solo piano work Prés. The concert also includes the winning piece of the Ithaca College International Heckscher Composition Prize, He Dreams a Mother, by Chicago-based composer David Clay Mettens featuring IC voice faculty Ivy Walz and the ICCE conducted by Jorge Grossmann. The evening closes with critically-acclaimed guest ensemble Yarn/Wire performing Gervasoni's Sviete Tihi, for two pianos and percussion.

The concert will be preceded by a 7:00 p.m. panel discussion between Stefano Gervasoni, David Clay Mettens and ICCE director Jorge Grossmann.
