Thomas Garrison organized a session and Michael Malpass presented a paper at the 84th annual meeting of the Society for American Archaeology meetings. In Albuquerque, NM April 10-14.
Thomas Garrison (Assistant Professor) organized a session honoring Prof. Stephen Houston (Brown University). The session brought together many of the biggest names in Maya archaeology and Garrison presented the introductory remarks celebrating Houston's career.
Prof. Malpass (Professor) gave a research report entitled, “Archaeological Indicators of Cultural Affiliation: The Case of the Middle Horizon(?) Site of Sonay, Peru”. This talk brought to a close a two decades-long debate about how old this site is, using both new interpretational tools and reassessment of dates and architecture.
