To the Campus Community:
Please be reminded that a significant construction initiative – the Job Boiler replacement project – is scheduled for the summer of 2019. The specific timeframe is Monday, May 20, (the day after Commencement) through Friday, August 9. In addition to the replacement of the 50+-year-old boilers – which provide heat to Job Hall, Friends Hall, Textor Hall and Muller Faculty Center – the infrastructure (piping, etc.) that currently resides within the ceiling of the walking corridor connecting these four buildings will also be replaced. This means that the entire ground-level corridor of these four buildings will be a closed construction zone during the summer months of 2019.
With a project of this magnitude, there are implications for students, faculty, staff and visitors who normally use the indoor walking corridor and many of the spaces located within or contiguous thereto. Accordingly, we have created a document and a map – both of which depict specific information that will be helpful to all members of the campus community. I encourage you to review both of these documents. (Please see the separate posts from IT about the impact of this effort on the Friends and Job computer labs.)
Thank you in advance for your understanding as we execute this important project during the summer of 2019. Should you have any questions or concerns, please send an email to Karen Witek, Assistant to the Associate Vice President (kwitek@ithaca.edu).
I offer my very best wishes to all of you for a safe and enjoyable summer season!
Tim
