Donation Suggestions in Memory of Jase Barrack ’20

The family of Jase Barrack ’20, who passed away on May 10 after suffering a serious injury off campus, has asked the college to make the campus community aware of some appropriate channels for making donations in his memory. An athletic training major, Jase was being cared for at Cayuga Medical Center, and his family made the decision to donate his organs in order to offer others the gift of life.

Here are the ways that contributions can be made to honor Jase:

• Cayuga Medical Center Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Cayuga Medical Center. The foundation secures, manages and distribute gifts to support the mission of CMC and all of its facilities. Whether it is helping to cover the cost of care for people in need, enhancing facilities to allow for the most up-to-date care available, or providing scholarship assistance that allows staff to continue to grow their skills, contributions help it care for the community and region.
   
• Donate Life America, a nonprofit organization that manages and promotes Donate Life, the national brand for the cause of donations; motivates the public to register as organ, eye and tissue donors; provides education about living donation; manages the National Donate Life Registry; and develops and executes multimedia campaigns to promote donation.
   
• Kent Scriber Athletic Training Fund, which honors the legacy, commitment and productivity of professor emeritus Kent Scriber, the patriarch of the athletic training program in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. The fund supports curricular programming and extra academic initiatives; professional growth and education of students, staff and faculty; and student and faculty research projects that are not always covered with normal operating expenses within the athletic training education program.
