The Office of Student Engagement is looking for a staff or faculty member to travel with volunteers to Buffalo this fall! Advisers are an important part of our Alternative Breaks program, as they provide guidance and oversight on each of our trips.

Students on the AFB trip to Buffalo will be volunteering with Journey’s End Refugee Services and the Food Bank of Western NY. The goal of the trip is for students to see how these organizations serve and provide resources to residents of Buffalo. The group will stay in an Airbnb in Buffalo while on the trip. On the last day of the trip, the group will have free time to explore the area around Buffalo!

Advisers help drive an IC vehicle, manage the group’s budget and travel itinerary, and serve as a resource for the group and the student leader on the trip. Advisers travel entirely free of cost and all planning is coordinated through OSE. Furthermore, staff do NOT need to use paid time away in order to travel. This is a great opportunity to spend time volunteering alongside students who are passionate about being involved!

To learn more about this opportunity, please contact Don Austin, Assistant Director of Community Service, in OSE at austin@ithaca.edu
