Brenda Mikula and Ben Hogben were chosen as recipients of the Staff Council Recognition Award. The Staff Council Staff Recognition Award was created to honor staff members who are actively involved with the IC community and who have gone above and beyond their regular work duties demonstrating initiative, support, commitment, and accomplishment. Below are excerpts from each of their nomination letters:
Brenda works in the Office of Admission and was nominated by her colleague Christina Inman. Christina describes Brenda as someone who makes herself available to help across campus assisting with events such as commencement as well as training members within partnering offices. Brenda has served on staff council for many years, dutifully attending meetings and participating on various sub committees. She is the smiling face that families visiting our campus see most Saturday mornings.
Ben works in the Library and was nominated by his colleague Lis Chabot. Lis shared with the committee that Ben has served as a personal coach for several IC employees and has worked with colleagues at the Cornell University Libraries to establish a reciprocal borrowing agreement that allows IC students, faculty, and staff to directly borrow items from Cornell. Ben also successfully established a relationship with an outside agency that brings animals to campus during finals week for de-stress events for students.
On behalf of Ithaca College and Staff Council we would like to acknowledge and thank both Brenda and Ben for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the college and its students.
