Ithaca College will hold a shelter-in-place drill on the morning of Wednesday, July 17, in the Office of Business and Finance on the ground floor and 14th floor of West Tower. The ground floor entrance and 14th floor will be completely closed to the public from 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Any incoming phone calls during that time will be forwarded to voicemail.

Only the Office of Business and Finance will be involved in the drill. The rest of the campus will be unaffected.

The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is working with offices across campus to develop individualized emergency response plans, and the drill will provide an opportunity for employees who work in facilities administration to practice responding to an active-shooter type situation. The drill will not include any simulated attack, but rather will commence and conclude with an announcement to employees who work in the administration building.

Signage will be placed at the building entrance in advance of and during the drill, and Public Safety will be stationed in the area. Members of the campus community not participating do not need to take any action.

If you have any questions about the drill, contact Bill Kerry, director and chief of the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, at wkerry@ithaca.edu.
