Mail Service Delays

09/05/19

Contributed by Peter Schlough

Following the Labor Day Holiday, Mail Service is experiencing significant delays to our normal mail/package processing timetable.

Incoming deliveries are extremely high in volume, and exceed our daily processing capacity. Please allow an extra day or more as we work to catch up. EXPRESS/OVERNIGHT shipments are still expedited for same-day pickup.

Thank you for your patience.

Why is this happening? These delays are caused by the following:

  1. Everyone ordering multiple items all at the same time
  2. Labor Day holiday - no carriers (UPS, USPS, etc) delivered to the college. Therefore, all backlogged items arrived on Tues when we reopened (approx 2,300+ pieces). We completed processing 1,900 pieces by the end of the day. The rest spilled over to Wed.
  3. Mail Service received approx 1,800 additional pieces on Wed, in addition to the overflow from the day before. Much of this volume is overflowing into Thurs (the day this Intercom post is written).
  4. Overflows are expected to continue until incoming package volume decreases.

Please visit our webpage for more information.

Thank you
