Understanding Student Learning Using Interdisciplinary Approaches:
Educational Technologies, Neuroimaging, and Physiological Measurements

Researchers working in the Pedagogy and Practice Lab at the University at Buffalo aim to understand the cognitive processes involved in student learning. Through interdisciplinary collaborations, the lab uses a variety of educational technologies, neuroimaging devices, and physiological measurement instruments to further conceptualize the underlying mechanisms of learning. The intricacies of commonly used devices in the lab: virtual reality (VR), functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), and the Empatica sensor will be discussed. This talk will also focus on how collaborators from across fields such as engineering, computer science, physics, and psychology have played a critical role in working towards a common research goal.
