Ithaca College will hold a shelter-in-place drill for the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance in Hill Center and the Center for Health Sciences on the afternoon of Friday, October 11. These buildings will be completely closed to the public from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on that date. Any incoming phone calls to offices during that time will be forwarded to voicemail.
Only those buildings will be involved in the drill. The rest of the campus will be unaffected.
The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management is working with offices across campus to develop individualized emergency response plans, and the drill will provide an opportunity for those who work in Hill Center and the Center for Health Sciences to practice responding to an active-shooter type situation. The drill will not include any simulated attack, but rather will commence and conclude with an announcement to employees who work in these buildings.
Signage will be placed at the entrances in advance of and during the drill, and Public Safety will be stationed in the area. Members of the campus community not participating do not need to take any action.
If you have any questions about the drill, contact Bill Kerry, Director and Chief of the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management, at wkerry@ithaca.edu.
Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Elyse Nepa at enepa@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
