BEING: Processing Group for ALANA Students

10/14/19

Contributed by Brittany McCown

Are you a student who identifies as a member of the African Diaspora, Latinx, Asian, Native American, or any combination of these? The BEING group provides a safe place to process the complex thoughts and emotions that commonly arise from the experience of being Students of Color in a predominantly white environment.

Through discussion within the group, you will have the opportunity to find validation, insights, motivation, and connections among fellow ALANA students. The group will also focus on self-care, and creating healthy responses to challenging situations of racism to help you thrive during your time at IC and beyond.

Both groups will be held in the Center for IDEAS Lounge.

Interested students, please email Stephanie Nevels, snevels@ithaca.edu, to request the session you’d like to attend.

Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Stephanie Nevels at snevels@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3136. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
