Student Governance Council Meeting Minutes 10/07/2019

 The Student Governance Council General Body Meeting on October 7th, 2019 saw speaker Rahk Lash from the Center of IDEAs as well as Senate Orientation. Thank you for everyone who came out to this meeting! Reminder that SGC meetings are open to anyone to attend and take place Monday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Taughannock Falls room on the third floor of Campus Center.

a. Speaker – RahK Lash: Interim Director for the Center for Inclusion Diversity E

i. Spoke about Center for IDEAS, goals moving forward, new required training for incoming freshman etc.

ii. Questions

Q. Ali – Will training only be required for first years

A. Discussions are still being had

Q. Yetunde - Have there been thoughts to partner with academic academic entities?

A. The Provost is not apart of the board looking at required training for freshman.

Q. Connor – Should orgs. Like SGC require that clubs etc. be required to do this training during re-recognition

C. Yetunde – Leadership Academy should work with IDEAS to incorporate training with Athletes

C. Alex – It should be for all athlete not just Leadership Academy b/c LA is selective

Q. Eva – In what ways do you hope to partner/work with SGC and other orgs. To

A. SGC – Foster a relationship SGC and Orgs. (Particularly Orgs. Of colors) & collaboration with those orgs.

C. Ali – SGC can reach out is well – go visit those spaces

Q. Alex – What kinds of students come to the IDEAS office and what are they coming for?

A. Students who are use to seeing the faces of people who work in the IDEAS office. They are working with people like Dave Parker to see how they can get other students to use the resource that is IDEAS office. IDEAS goes to Seminars to talk. Areas w/

a. I was able to attend a general body meeting for HEARD (Human Expression through the Arts: a Reciprocal Development program)

4. Krispy Kreme Fundraiser!

a. Order your donuts on Oct. 14-16 and Oct. 21-23

b. Pick them up on Oct. 28th!

c. Where? Campus Center!

d. How much? $8 for A DOZEN DONUTS!

e. The money will go towards HEARD operations including supplies necessary to execute their programming with residents

5. If you are part of other student organizations and they are recognized by OSE (the Office of Student Engagement), they should be on the lookout for an email from me!
